DIRECTOR ID

Last call to get on board

As previously advised under this new legislation all existing company directors are required to obtain their Director IDs by the 30th November 2022. Any new companies with a new director have 28 days to register.

This process aims to remove fictitious directors, allow regulators to trace directors’ relationships with companies over time and better identify director involvement in unlawful activity.

The fastest way to apply is online by visiting https://www.abrs.gov.au/director-identification-number/apply-director-identification-number and using your myGovID.  You can also apply via phone or by paper application.  If you need any help setting up your Director ID please get in contact with us as soon as possible to beat the 30th November deadline.

SUPERANNUATION GUARANTEE

As of the 1 July 2022 the super guarantee (SG) rate increased  to 10.5% and the old $450 per month threshold under which no SG was due, was removed, so now most employees are due to receive the 10.5% SG.

The only exemption for staff under 18 working less than 30 hours in a week.

Please ensure your payroll program has updated to the 10.5% rate.

STP PHASE 2

STP Phase 2 began on the 1st of January 2022 to help streamline interactions with the ATO and other government departments.

What has changed What hasn’t changed
– Seperation of gross payments (splitting ordinary time from overtime etc)

– Employment & taxation conditions (employment basis, termination reasons etc)

– Income types (to determine the correct tax ie. Working Holiday Makers etc)

– The way you lodge

– The due date

– The types of payments that are needed

– Tax and super obligations

– End of year finalisation requirements

If you report via STP you no longer need to send a physical copy of your employees’ TFN declaration to the ATO however you will still need to keep it on file for your employee records.

FUEL TAX CREDIT RATES

The fuel tax credit rate increased on the 1st August 2022 and then the temporary reduction amount of 22.1c was removed on the 29th September 2022.  The increased rates only apply to fuel acquired from each date.  Please take extra care when completing your fuel data collection so we can apply the correct rates to your claim.
