Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a software enabled system to report tax and super information to the Australian Tax Office (ATO).

STP has already come into effect for large employers and will be extended to all employers from July 2019. However, there are some extensions and exemptions available in certain circumstances.

There are a number of options available for employers who do not use payroll software, such as  no-cost and low-cost Single Touch Payroll solutions.

Options will depend on your number of employees:

  • Large employers with 20 or more employees should now be reporting through STP or have applied to the ATO for a later start date.
  • Small employers with 19 or less employees will need to report through STP from 1 July 2019. This is a gradual transition, and the ATO is providing flexible options, which we can help you with.

If you’re an employer with four or less employees, you will have additional options.

There are a number of solutions available to employers for your STP compliance, so there is not a one size fits all answer to your STP reporting.
